Fair Weather Lament
There’s nothing quite so splendid as the changing of the season
When snow gives way to flowers with the sun and heat the reason
This winter has been surly and its welcome overstayed
The white stuff in mid-April has the masses quite dismayed
With talk of global warming you’re excused if you are vexed
Incessant cold and flurries will leave a soul perplexed
By Easter we’re expecting that the climate be much better
At least of a description that avoids the boots and sweater
With the playing of The Masters it’s high time the Spring we taste
A chance to shed some clothes and layers formed around the waist
So let this be the last assault from a winter so severe
We got your point now move aside and let some warmth appear
